Yoga Therapy

Therapeutic yoga is a restorative practice in which props, such as chairs, blocks, bolsters, and blankets are used to make yoga poses accessible for every body. In this way, you can benefit from the poses with full physical support, without added strain or stress on the body for a deeply restful, healing practice.

Alena has completed training in therapeutic yoga techniques at Beth Israel Medical Center’s Department of Integrative Medicine under Jillian Friedman. She has provided therapeutic yoga to patients at their hospital bedsides and in her private practice¬†with a range of issues including HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, parasitic infections, broken bones, concussions, and suicide attempts.

Alena is also a certified level 1 LifeForce Yoga Practitioner trained by Amy Weintraub. LifeForce Yoga includes evidence-based techniques to prevent, and provide relief from, symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Her ongoing yoga training is in the Iyengar method with Tzahi Moskovitz and at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York.
